Lake Louise is a ski resort in its own right. It has everything from easy cruising greens to tough double diamond blacks. The ski area is about 2 miles outside the village and is linked to the village by a free shuttle bus. The Banff area ski pass allows you to ski in Sunshine Village and Banff Mount Norquay and use the resort buses that link these three ski areas. From the ski area you can see the world famous Chateau by the Lake in the village. At the entrance to the ski area is a number of wooden buildings. These contain shops, lift pass desks and a restaurant. The restaurant does a wonderful 'eat as much as you like' breakfast for under Cd$6.
Lake Louise ski area is split into two halves the front side is the most skied area and can get very busy, the back side consists of a number of bowls which are often full of powder. The back side is a bit exposed so it is best on clear days when visibility is good.
