I went to Tignes in January 1997. This resort shares its skiing with the nearby resort of Val d'Isere as part of the 'Espace Killy'. Tignes is made up of three small villages, linked by a free shuttle bus service. Most runs are classified as either blue or red, but many runs that are marked as reds would be blacks in many other resorts. Tignes also has one of the largest summer ski areas on the glacier allowing the ski resort to remain open all year. Care should be taken when going across to Val d'Isere that you leave plenty of time to get back as it is an expensive taxi ride if you miss the last lifts back and queues can build up quickly at the end of the day on return lifts.
